  • Electoral code
    • Representation of the People Act 1983
Electoral law in the UK, as applied to both local and national elections, is in need of extensive reform. Many of its provisions have Victorian roots. There is no single statute, and instead its provisions are spread over many primary and secondary pieces of legislation. Although often amended, one root of much current practice is the Representation of the People Act 1983.
